Cookie Dough Dip

I love being on vacation. And the first thing I think of when I think of summer vacation is the beach.

This past weekend I went to Dewey Beach Delaware with my roommates and 10 of their friends. Its an annual gathering at the beach where craziness ensues. Naturally it was a blast. We ate, drank, got tan, drank, sunburned, danced, ate, sang, and drank etc.

On Saturday evening we had a dip off. You know, competing with one another on who could make the best dip.

We ended up having 4 teams with four tasty dips to vote for. Competition was fierce with

A smokey black bean dip

Guacamole

Mexican layer dip with re-fried beans, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa

And my dip: Chocolate chip cookie dough dip

All the dips were really good! I mean have you really met a dip you didn’t really like?

Me neither.

Dips are easy and fun to eat, everyone loves them and they are the ultimate party food.

And the winner was….

ME!

I think having a dessert dip just surprised people and it tasted pretty darn good. Gooey “dough” with chocolate chips, and peanut butter chips served with pretzels, graham crackers, and left over cake balls.

I wish I could take credit for inventing this glorious dip, alas I cannot. I tweaked Jessica from How Sweet it is‘ recipe. She is a genius when it comes to all things sweet. And the best part? It literally takes all of 5 minutes to make.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip

~Adapted from How Sweet it is

-8oz package of cream cheese

1 cup powdered sugar

2/3 cup dark brown sugar

1 stick of butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2  cup of mini chocolate chips

1/3 cup peanut butter chips

Instructions:

Melt the butter slowly in a sauce pan and add the brown sugar. Combine until the brown sugar dissolves the best it can.

In another bowl mix cream cheese and powdered sugar until combined. Add vanilla extract.

Slowly add the butter and sugar to the cream cheese mixture until all is combined.

Put in the freezer for 10-15 minutes.

Once cooled fold in the chocolate and peanut butter chips. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Serve with graham crackers, pretzels, animal crackers, marshmallows, oreos…you get the idea.

This is clearly not conducive to bikini wearing.

Bikinis are overrated. You should make this now.

Take me to Naples

I want to go here…NOW!

My Grandparent’s have a house in Naples Florida and I love this place. The town is so picturesque- all the buildings are pastel pinks and yellows, twinkling lights around palm trees lining the streets, key lime pie, the gulf and pier, great restaurants, sunny warm weather, sunsets. I could go on forever but I will let my pictures do the talking.
